The Supertri event in Toulouse, often set against the backdrop of the “Pink City” (La Ville Rose), is considered exceptional for several key reasons that combine a challenging course, an incredible atmosphere, and its significance within the Supertri League.
Here are the main factors that make Supertri Toulouse stand out:
1. The Course: Technical, Demanding, and Scenic
The race features a distinctive and challenging course in the heart of the city:
- Technical Bike Leg: The bike course is notoriously technical and demanding, often incorporating features like cobblestones, sharp climbs, and fast, winding descents. This puts a premium on bike handling skills and tactical maneuvering, making it one of the most spectacular and unforgiving circuits on the Supertri calendar.
- River Swim: Athletes swim in the Garonne River, starting near the Port de la Daurade, adding a scenic and historical element to the race.
- City Center Action: The compact, multi-lap course is confined to the city center, allowing spectators to see the athletes multiple times during each of the three swim-bike-run stages. For certain seasons, the course has been enhanced, for instance, by including sections on the historic Pont Neuf.
2. “Tour de France” Spectator Atmosphere
Toulouse is famous for its passionate and immense crowds, which create an atmosphere that has been likened to a stage of the Tour de France.
- Massive Crowds: The event draws large numbers of enthusiastic spectators who line the streets, creating a high-energy and intense environment for the athletes.
- A “Favorite” Venue: Toulouse has consistently proven to be a favorite host city among both the world’s best professional triathletes and the fans, returning year after year to the Supertri calendar.
3. Event Significance (Often a Grand Final)
Toulouse frequently hosts the prestigious Grand Final of the Supertri League, which dramatically raises the stakes:
- Championship Decider: When it is the Grand Final, all season titlesโthe men’s, women’s, and lucrative team championshipsโare decided in Toulouse.
- Increased Points: The Grand Final typically offers increased points compared to the regular season races, meaning the overall standings can be completely shaken up on the final day, ensuring a suspenseful and high-pressure finish.
- Huge Prize Money: The final race determines the distribution of the significant season prize money, with the majority awarded to the winning teams.
4. Community and Participation Festival
The event has a strong focus on community engagement and making the sport accessible:
- Mass Participation Race: For the first time in recent years, Toulouse has expanded the event to include a mass participation race (Toulouse Triathlon By Supertri). This allows amateur athletes, from complete beginners to seasoned triathletes, to compete on a course similar to the one used by the professionals.
- Community Impact: Supertri in Toulouse has a documented track record of positive community and economic impact, including inspiring physical activity, hosting swim clinics for young athletes, and partnering with local initiatives like the Oncopole cancer research and treatment hospital.
- Fanzone: A lively Fanzone often located in the Capitole becomes a celebration of sport, with family-friendly activities, music, and athlete presentations
The Supertri Toulouse 2025 event, held on Sunday, October 5, 2025, served as the dramatic Grand Final of the 2025 Supertri League season. The day featured both the elite professional race and, for the first time, a mass participation event, the Toulouse Triathlon By Supertri.
Here is a summary of the key outcomes from the elite professional race:
Elite Men’s Race and Overall Championship

His Stars & Stripes teammate, Seth Rider, finished second in the race, giving the team a memorable one-two finish. Vasco Vilaca (Crown Racing), Lehmann’s main title rival, finished third in the race and second in the overall standings.

Event Context and Format
- Format: The elite race used the intense Enduro format (or Supertri format), which is three continuous triathlons (swim-bike-run, repeated three times) on a short, technical city-center course.
- Stakes: As the Grand Final, the race offered increased points, and the final results determined the winners of the individual men’s and women’s titles, as well as the Team Championship. A record prize purse was awarded.
- Mass Participation: The event was expanded to include the Toulouse Triathlon By Supertri for amateur athletes, allowing them to race on a course similar to the professionals.
