The Movistar Madrid Half Marathon (Semi Maratón de Madrid) for 2026 was scheduled for Sunday, March 22, 2026. Since that date has just passed, here is the program as it was executed for the event:
Race Day Schedule (March 22, 2026)
- 09:10 AM: Start for Athletes in Wheelchairs.
- 09:15 AM: Main Start for the Half Marathon (21.097 km) and the Carrera ProFuturo (5.8 km).
- 09:15 AM – 09:27 AM: Wave starts based on expected finish times:
- Start 1: Runners targeting under 1h 40m.
- Start 2: Runners targeting up to 1h 50m.
- Start 3: Runners targeting up to 2h 00m.
- Start 4: Runners targeting over 2h 00m.
- 12:15 PM: Course closure (3-hour time limit from the start of the last wave).
Course Highlights
The race started and finished at Paseo de Recoletos (near the National Library). The route is a single loop through the heart of Madrid, featuring:
- Paseo de la Castellana and the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium.
- Plaza de Castilla and the iconic Kio Towers.
- Puerta de Alcalá and the Prado Museum (primarily for the 5.8 km and final stretches of the 21 km).
Runner’s Expo (Pre-Race)
Bib and race pack collection took place at Distrito Telefónica (Edificio de Servicios) during the following days:
- Thursday, March 19: 12:00 PM – 8:00 PM
- Friday, March 20: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Saturday, March 21: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM

Highlights
- Levy Kibet Chematot successfully defended his title, having also won the 2025 edition.
- The first Spanish runner to cross the finish line in the men’s category was Juan Antonio “Chiki” Pérez, finishing 8th with a time of 1:04:25.
- The Carrera ProFuturo (5.8 km), which was held simultaneously, also saw high participation as part of the event’s charitable initiative.
Anna Reiff was there and delivered an impressive performance.
She finished in the top 10 of the women’s overall category, securing 9th place with an official time of 1:19:48.
This result highlights her as one of the standout runners in the 2026 edition, especially considering the high level of competition in the World Athletics Label field.

🚨 National U23 Best 🚨
Yesterday at the XXV Movistar Madrid Medio Maratón 🇪🇸, Celtic athlete Anna Reiff ran the half marathon in 1:19:48, setting a new U23 national best*.
With this performance, she dipped under the required standard of 1:20:00, confirming the national best in style.
A strong run on the roads of Madrid. Congratulations Anna! 👏🏻
