Route Highlights
The Half Marathon course is particularly scenic, starting at the Bay, heading through the center of Cascais, and extending out toward the Guincho Road before returning for a finish at the seaside. The 5 km and 10 km races are point-to-point, starting at the Bay and finishing inside the Cascais Marina.
Note: The dates were adjusted from the original February 7–8 schedule to avoid a conflict with potential presidential elections.
The 2026 Montepio Cascais Half Marathon offers three distinct road courses plus a children’s run. While all races start at the scenic Cascais Bay, the finish lines vary depending on the distance.
Half Marathon (21.1 km)
This is a circular route that starts and finishes at Passeio Dom Luís I (Cascais Bay).
- The Loop: You’ll head east toward the center, then loop back through Av. da República and Av. 25 de Abril.
- The Coastal Stretch: The most famous segment takes you along the Estrada do Guincho, running parallel to the Atlantic with a turnaround point near the Fortaleza do Guincho.
- Terrain: Mostly flat along the ocean, with some gentle elevation changes within the town center.
Cascais 10 km
Unlike the half marathon, this is a point-to-point race starting at the Bay and finishing at the Cascais Marina.
- The Route: After the start, you’ll head toward the Guia area and turn around near the Forte de São Jorge de Oitavos.
- Finish: The final stretch enters the Marina for a dedicated internal finish circuit.
Cascais 5 km
Also a point-to-point race finishing at the Cascais Marina.
- The Route: A shorter version of the town loop, passing through Av. Infante Dom Henrique and returning via Rua Vigia do Facho to reach the Marina.
- Vibe: Designed for families and walkers, it stays closer to the historic center compared to the longer races.
