The 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season features eight rounds across five continents. Notably, the schedule underwent a mid-season adjustment: the Qatar 1812 km, originally planned as the season opener in March, was postponed to October.
As a result, the 6 Hours of Imola served as the revised season opener in April.

Key Highlights for 2026
- Manufacturer Growth: The Hypercar class continues to expand, with Genesis entering the championship as a major new manufacturer, featuring high-profile drivers like André Lotterer and Pipo Derani.
- Schedule Shift: The postponement of the Qatar round moved the “Prologue” (the official pre-season test) to Imola, creating a back-to-back Italian start for the championship.
- Grid Capacity: The grid remains highly competitive, primarily split between the premier Hypercar class and the LMGT3 category.
The 2026 FIA WEC grid is one of the most anticipated in the championship’s history, marked by the arrival of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and the entry of Genesis (Hyundai’s luxury brand).
While the FIA usually releases the “Full Season Entry List” in late 2025, several factory lineups and team partnerships are already confirmed or have been heavily reported for the 2026 season.

- Manthey Racing (Porsche): Expected to continue their dominance with the 911 GT3 R.
- Team WRT (BMW): Running the M4 GT3, often featuring high-profile names like Valentino Rossi.
- Vista AF Corse (Ferrari): Utilizing the 296 GT3.
- United Autosports (McLaren): Entering their third season with the 720S GT3 Evo.
- Iron Dames (Lamborghini/Porsche): The fan-favorite all-female lineup remains a staple of the grid.
- Akkodis ASP (Lexus): Continuing the development of the RC F GT3 (or transitioning to the new GT3 model if homologated).
Major Changes for 2026
The “Genesis” Factor: The biggest news for 2026 is Hyundai’s luxury brand, Genesis, entering the top class. They have partnered with Cool Racing for technical operations and have secured veteran André Lotterer following his departure from the Porsche factory program.
Aston Martin’s Return: After years away from the top class, the Valkyrie marks the return of a front-engined-style V12 to the Le Mans grid, run by the Heart of Racing team.
