Viana Granfondo, the gateway to the verdant Alto Minho region.
On March 15, 2026, we return to Viana do Castelo and the magnificent landscapes of the Lima and Minho valleys, with the majestic Serra d’Arga mountain range nestled between the two rivers that flow peacefully into the Atlantic Ocean, the backdrop for this event bearing the Bikeservice quality mark. The 53 km minifondo offers no added difficulties, presenting a mostly flat route where the climbs of Costa and Vila Verde are easily traversed. The first half unfolds, for the most part, on forest roads, towards Caminha. From there, similar to the other two distances, the return to Viana follows the coastline, with the sea breeze serving as a balm.
In Orbacém, with their sights set on the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Minho, the mediofondo and granfondo run around the Serra d’Arga mountain range through Amonde, Meixedo, and Lanheses. Situated between that mountain range and the Serra de Formigoso, participants will then have to ascend to Cabração (3 km at 6.6%), a town from which the mediofondo continues at a good pace to the finish line, located on Praia Norte beach, completing the 99 km of the stage.
Those who opt for the 130 km granfondo route head towards Paredes de Coura and continue along a more demanding path. This effort will certainly be rewarded by the views offered by Agualonga, Rubiães, Sapardos and Covas, preceding the 4.5 km climb to Sopos (6.2%). The passage through Vilar de Mouros and Venade, on the way to Caminha, will be at an intense pace.
In short, whatever the distance, the important thing is to ensure your presence at this Viana Granfondo, the gateway to the picturesque and verdant Alto Minho region.
