Result Tour of the Alps Cycling Stage 5
In the final showdown of the 2026 Tour of the Alps (Trento to Bozen/Bolzano, 128.6 km), Giulio Pellizzari of Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe delivered a masterclass.
The young Italian launched a solo attack with 20 kilometers to go on the final climb of Montoppio, holding off a chase group that included Ineos stars to secure both the stage win and the overall title. This victory makes him the first Italian to win the race since Vincenzo Nibali in 2013.

- Egan Bernal (INEOS Grenadiers) — + 0:40
- Thymen Arensman (INEOS Grenadiers) — + 0:50
Race Highlights
The Significance: With this win, Pellizzari cements himself as a major outsider for the upcoming Giro d’Italia, proving he can handle the pressure of defending a lead over multiple mountain stages.
The Final Attack: Pellizzari dropped the main GC group on the slopes of the Montoppio (12.7 km at 7.1%). While Bernal and Storer initially tried to follow, they couldn’t close the gap on the technical descent into Bolzano.
Ineos Strategy: The INEOS Grenadiers attempted to use their “two-pronged” attack with Bernal and Arensman, but Arensman struggled on the final gradients, leaving Bernal to finish as the best of the chasers.
