The Tour du Pays de Vaud is one of the premier events on the junior international cycling calendar. As part of the UCI Men Junior Nations’ Cup (Class 2.Ncup), it serves as a crucial testing ground for the world’s best under-19 riders.
The 2026 edition features a demanding four-day program across the Vaud canton in Switzerland, totaling 362.1 kilometers of racing with a heavy emphasis on serious climbing.
2026 Stage Schedule & Program
The race structure features an opening individual time trial followed by three progressively challenging road stages.
Stage 1: Daillens (ITT)
- Date: Thursday, May 28, 2026
- Type: Individual Time Trial
- Distance: 9.1 km
- Elevation Gain: +120 m
- The Vibe: A fast, rolling, and aerodynamic test around Daillens. While it features minimal elevation change, maintaining a steady power output and an optimal aerodynamic position will dictate the first gaps in the General Classification.
Stage 2: Carrouge to Carrouge
- Date: Friday, May 29, 2026
- Type: Road Race (Course en ligne)
- Distance: 118.9 km
- Elevation Gain: +2,300 m
- The Vibe: Taking place in the heart of the Jorat region, this is an aggressive, punchy stage. With over 2,300 meters of climbing packed into under 120 kilometers, it favors attackers and dynamic riders (puncheurs) who can handle relentless elevation changes.
Stage 3: Tartegnin to Tartegnin
- Date: Saturday, May 30, 2026
- Type: Road Race (Course en ligne)
- Distance: 130.4 km
- Elevation Gain: +2,500 m
- The Vibe: The Queen Stage of the 2026 edition. Set against the backdrop of the Jura mountains and the vineyards of Tartegnin, this stage is designed for pure climbers. This is where the overall contenders are expected to launch major attacks to secure the leader’s jersey.
Stage 4: Lucens to Lucens
- Date: Sunday, May 31, 2026
- Type: Road Race (Course en ligne)
- Distance: 77.0 km
- Elevation Gain: +1,250 m
- The Vibe: A short, explosive finale. The stage is highly nervous and fast-paced, featuring a new addition for 2026—crucial time bonuses at intermediate sprints and the finish line, which could shake up the final podium right up to the last meter.
Key Race Rules & What’s New
- Bonifications: For the first time in 2026, time bonuses are integrated into the intermediate sprints and stage finishes, creating a more tactical dynamic for teams trying to protect or steal the yellow jersey on the final day.
- The Prototype of a Champion: Given the combination of a sharp opening time trial, heavy alpine climbing on Friday and Saturday, and a chaotic sprint day on Sunday, the 2026 winner will need to be a true all-rounder.
