L’Étape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is an exciting new addition to the cycling calendar, offering amateur riders the chance to experience a stage of the professional Tour de France Femmes.
What it is: Modeled after the long-standing L’Étape du Tour for men, this event allows amateur cyclists to ride on the exact same course as the professional women in the Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift, on fully closed and timed roads. It’s an opportunity for cyclists of all levels (aged 18 and over) to challenge themselves on an iconic route, experiencing the thrill and atmosphere of a Grand Tour stage.
When it started: The L’Étape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift is a relatively new event. Its inaugural edition is set for August 2, 2025.
The 2025 Edition: For its first edition in 2025, the L’Étape du Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will take place on the stage between Chambéry and the Col de la Madeleine in Saint-François-Longchamp. This promises to be a challenging and memorable route, featuring a legendary mountain pass. There are typically two course options offered:
- A full-length course, replicating the exact professional stage.
- A slightly shorter, but still demanding, version.
The event emphasizes inclusivity and often includes initiatives to encourage women’s participation, such as female road captains and dedicated zones at the start village. Like the men’s Étape, it also provides comprehensive support, including medical assistance, feed stations, mechanical support, and even repatriation services in case of abandonment.
