The race quickly gained prestige, growing into a professional stage race that attracted international teams. For 39 years, it was known as the Ruban Granitier Breton .
In 2006, the race was renamed the Tour de Bretagne Cycliste. This change marked the region of Brittany becoming the main partner, taking over from the granite workers’ syndicate and signaling a new era for the race .
