Participants can choose between two main route formats depending on their fitness level:
1. The Short Route (Kurze Runde)
- Distance: ~52 km (some registers list 42 km depending on precise start/finish configurations)
- Elevation Gain: ~930 m
- Highlights: Ambri – Airolo – Gotthard Pass (via the historic, cobbled Tremola road) – Ambri. Perfect for riders wanting a taste of Alpine climbing without the grueling distance.
2. The Long Route (Lange Runde)
- Distance: 115 km
- Elevation Gain: 3,300 m (with 40 km of total climbing)
- Highlights: This epic route tackles three legendary Swiss mountain passes:
- Gotthard Pass: Climbed via the granite cobblestones of the Tremola (2,106 m elevation).
- Furka Pass: Switzerland’s highest highway pass with breathtaking views of the Rhone Glacier.
- Nufenen Pass (Novena): A steep, grueling final climb before a long descent back to the finish line.
📋 Important Participant Information
- Mandatory Gear: Every rider must equip their bike with a functional front white light and a rear red light.
- On-Site Payments: If you need to make payments on-site (registration, merchandise, etc.), only card payments or TWINT are accepted. No cash payments are possible.
- Timekeeping: Timing chips will record your performance on the major climbs (Gotthard, Furka, and Nufenen) rather than the neutralized downhill sections to ensure rider safety.
