THE NICKNAME OF “PURITO”
Purito’s nickname originated in a training session with Manolo Saiz’s ONCE team, during a rally in El Bosque (Cadis). There, he bid a port with Laurent Jalabert and the other team bosses, he will stage a simulant attack that is smoking a cigar to show that he has plenty of strength. This nickname is used by the entire press in order to be more connected with Purito Rodríguez than with Joaquim Rodríguez.
