ADAC Marathon Hannover – Participation record broken!
On course for 30,000 participants – half marathon almost fully booked
Just 10 days before the first starting shot was fired, the ADAC Marathon on 6 April broke the previous record for participants and is now heading for the next
The organisers are approaching the 30,000 mark. “On Thursday morning, we already had 27,754 registrations in our database and had clearly surpassed the previous six-year-old record of 26,792 participants,” said head of organisation and race director Stefanie Eichel proudly and happily: “A great number and an impressive vote of confidence in our organisation.”
A good 4,500 athletes alone will be taking on the classic marathon distance of 42.195 kilometres the Sunday after next, including almost 1,000 “first-timers” who will be celebrating their debut on this course. As every year, the discipline with the most participants is the half marathon, for which there are almost 12,000 registrations and which is close to being fully booked. “We currently still have just under 200 open starting places available, after which we will have to close registration for the half marathon due to capacity reasons,” says Eichel.
The second largest field of starters will be at the start of the enercity relay marathon, for which 4,791 athletes in 874 relay teams have registered so far. The namesake enercity alone will be on the course with almost 20 relay teams, including CEO Aurélie Alemany.
Online registration for all disciplines (if still available) is possible at any time up to one hour before the start. This year, the race number distribution and the Marathon EXPO will take place in the Old Town Hall in Köbelingerstraße (An der Marktkirche).
