Tornado Begins Their Division 2 Era with a 6-2 Victory in Rouen

Tornado traveled to Rouen for their first-ever game in Division 2, marking a significant moment in the club’s history. Rouen 2 fielded a lineup of young players from their renowned hockey academy.
Despite Rouen’s fast skating and skilled individuals, they were unable to match Tornado’s experienced, cohesive team. Greg Holodkovs, last season’s top scorer, started this season just as he finished the last, tallying 1 goal and 3 assists on the scoresheet.
Tornado fans have reason to celebrate the club’s new signings, as Juris Upitis scored twice. Additionally, young goaltender Charles Perrin held steady between the pipes, giving the team the stability needed to secure the win.
While it’s promising to see new players integrating well into the team, it’s heartwarming to watch long-time members excel at this higher level. Antoine Thomas and Adrien Maurer both contributed with a goal and an assist, with Adrien scoring his 70th goal in a Tornado jersey. The veteran players—Vesa Hirvonen, Captain Colm Cannon, Jonas Mullo, and Thierry Beran—anchored the defense and set a strong example for newcomers and younger teammates alike.
Coach Christer Eriksson was obviously satisfied with the result and the team’s performance:
“I would say that all the players really stuck to the plan, except maybe during the second half of the second period, where we were ‘running around’ a bit too much and almost let them back into the game. In the third period, we got back to our game plan and managed the rest of the game really well. It’s only one game, but of course, it’s a big satisfaction to secure those first 3 points in Division 2. Let’s stay humble and continue on this path…”
