The 2024 World Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships, the most anticipated karate tournament of the year for young athletes, is just around the corner. Venice, Italy, will welcome the world’s top youth karate competitors to one of the sport’s most prestigious events.

JESOLO, THE GREEN AND INCLUSIVE YOUTH KARATE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS

From October 9 to 13, two thousand athletes from over one hundred nations will compete in a competition that Italy has been missing for 16 years. It will be an ecologically sustainable event: the first 20% plastic-free race carpet will be presented, exclusively with electric mobility. The World Youth Karate Championships are back and will take place in Jesolo from Wednesday, October 9 to Sunday, October 13, 2024. The competition will have an international dimension: 1,995 athletes from 113 nations from all over the world have registered. Sixteen years after the European Championships in Trieste, which took place in 2008, Italy is once again hosting the great karate, thanks to FIJLKAM (Italian Judo, Karate and Martial Arts Federation). Moreover, Jesolo is already an important center of world karate, as the final stage of the Karate 1 Youth League takes place here every year: Last year there were a record 4,135 participants, accompanied by a thousand coaches, representing 874 clubs from 81 nations. A great event divided into several moments that will involve a large part of the regional territory and in particular the cities of Jesolo, Chioggia and Venice.

THE YOUTH KARATE WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP 2024 Dedicated every two years to the under-21, junior and cadet age groups, it is the largest youth event in the international karate panorama of the WKF (World Karate Federation) and will feature the most talented young karate players in the world. The event will be hosted by the Palazzo del Turismo (Piazza Brescia, 11) at Jesolo Lido. From Wednesday the 9th to Friday the 11th, the preliminary rounds will take place, while Saturday the 12th and Sunday the 13th will be dedicated exclusively to the gold and bronze finals. As already mentioned, the participating athletes will be U21 (18, 19, 20 years old), juniors (16, 17 years old) and cadets (14, 15 years old). Below you will find the competition times: Wednesday from 9:00 am to 8:30 pm; Thursday from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm; Friday from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm; Saturday from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm; finals on Sunday from 10:00 am to 3:45 pm. THE FIJLKAM The FIJLKAM (Italian Federation of Judo-Wrestling-Karate-Martial Arts) was founded over a century ago in Milan by the Marquis Luigi Monticelli Obizzi with the aim of regulating the sports of Greco-Roman wrestling and weightlifting, and consists of the federations , associations and affiliated bodies that carry out – on a non-profit basis – the sporting and promotional activities in the fields of judo, wrestling, karate, ju jitsu, aikido and sumo; The traditional S’Istrumpa and Capoeira fights are also recognized. These are sports that are practiced at amateur level in accordance with the guidelines and instructions of the respective international federations, the IOC (International Olympic Committee) and the CONI (Italian National Olympic Committee). FIJLKAM therefore has the institutional task of promoting, organizing, regulating and disseminating the sports controlled by the International Judo Federation (IJF), the Fédération Internationale des Luttes Associèes (FILA), the World Karate Federation (WKF) and the International Sumo Federation ( ISF), to which it is affiliated and of which it is the only recognized representative in Italy. FIJLKAM is the only association recognized and authorized by CONI to regulate and manage sports and promotional activities in Italy (in the above-mentioned disciplines) and to represent them abroad.

THE WKF The World Karate Federation, abbreviated to WKF (from the English World Karate Federation), is a sports federation that was founded in 1990 by the members of the WUKO (World Union of Karate-do Organizations). It is the only organization recognized by the International Olympic Committee. Since its foundation, the federation has been responsible for organizing the Senior World Championships (athletes aged 21 and over) every two years, while since 1999 it has organized the U21 World Championships (from 18 to 21 years old) and Junior World Championships (from 16 to 18 years old). Finally, since 2009, the cadets (from 14 to 16 years old). The seat is Madrid. In 2020, under the auspices of the WKF in Tokyo, karate participated in the Olympic Games for the first time in history, although it has already been considered an Olympic sport for many years thanks to its inclusion in the program of the Mediterranean Games , the European Championships, Youth Olympic Games and Beach Games.
