Press release from March 25, 2024

Before the friendly match against Kazakhstan, Luc Holtz and Laurent Jans held a press conference this afternoon at the Stade de Luxembourg.

In addition to Maxime Chanot, Mica Pinto also left to join his club after the Georgia match. The Luxembourg left-back is awaiting a diagnosis for his injured knee, which is severely restricting his movement.

Asked about the frustration accumulated after the Georgia match, the national coach explains that the players will try to find joy again with a good performance and a good result.

Above all, they want to put in a performance to thank the fans for their support throughout the campaign.

Luc Holtz sees Kazakhstan as an opponent whose tactics are very similar to those of the Georgians. The Kazakhs are a defensively solid team who, like the Georgians, become dangerous thanks to their fast transition game and who also possess solid set-pieces.

Although Laurent Jans was unable to savor his 100th cap, the achievement makes him proud, and he is looking forward to playing his 101st cap against Kazakhstan and equaling Mario Mutsch as Luxembourg’s all-time record holder.
