70 years of technical development in racing !
As announced by Pole Position, the motorcycle will be more than ever at the center of the International Motorshows Luxembourg. The proof this year is an FIM Historic Event organized in close collaboration with the International Motorcycle Federation!
This exhibition is themed “70 years of technological development in racing” and is organized with the support of the Spirit of Speed Association. It will cover all the world championships from 1949 to the present day, with a selection of machines showcasing the most important technological developments in Grand Prix and MotoGP, Superbike and Endurance.
The concept of the FIM Historic Event is to present only machines whose authenticity has been established through a certification process. Collectors will come from all over Europe to present a selection of motorcycles that have never been seen in Luxembourg and represent the quintessence of the technologies used during these decades of development.
These historic machines have been ridden by Dovizioso, Roberts Jr, Abe, Agostini, Sheene, Chili, Mamola, Grant, Lansivuori, Pirro, Checa, Rigal, Bagnaia, Bonera, Uncini and even the famous French comedian Coluche, who set a world speed record on a Yamaha 750 TZ in Nardo in 1985…
The program will focus, among other things, on the fantastic Suzuki 500, which was launched in 1974 and said goodbye in 2002 when it was replaced by the 500cc class in MotoGP. The great models that made this history will be present and will make it possible to discover the technical evolution in an educational way.
Particular attention will be paid to the presentation of the machines, which will reveal their secrets, usually well hidden behind their fairings. In a workshop, you can benefit from the collectors’ explanations of exceptional machines. And for the first time, the motorcycles will be set in motion during the “warm-up” sessions! Who hasn’t regretted not having 4-cylinder two-strokes or dreamed of being just 2 meters away from a MotoGP vehicle during the warm-up?
In short, a historic FIM event that will take place in the Grand Duchy and that will attract countless motorcycling enthusiasts…
