Ironman 70.3 is a long-distance event organized by the licensing body World Triathlon Corporation. Instead of 140.60 miles in the half thus 70.3 miles is held. Of which 1.2 miles are swimming, 56 miles of cycling and 13.1 miles of running (1.9 km swim, 90 km bike and 21 km run).
In the past, the discipline was also called a half marathon. Competitions are now offered in every continent of the world. The World Triathlon Corporation organizes the events as qualifying races worldwide and allocates slots for the world championship at the individual races.
On October 28 and 29, the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship was held in St. George, Utah, as it will be in 2021. Only three weeks after the “big” IRONMAN in Hawaii, defending champions Gustav Iden and Lucy Charles Barclay were back on the starting line.
