HYROX is a fitness trend sport where athletes can combine endurance and strength training.
HYROX is a great indoor sports event that combines running with other functional training elements. These include wallballs, rowing on an ergometer, or lunges with a sandbag. The new sport is not to be confused with Crossfit or obstacle courses. That’s because HYROX events last much longer than typical Crossfit events, averaging 1.5 hours. The concept is aimed at mixing popular and elite sports. The organizers therefore also speak of an “everyman event”.
Basically, HYROX is aimed at all sports enthusiasts, especially those who want to try something new or test their fitness at an official event.
After the running course has been covered, the various fitness stations are completed inside. In total, 8 times 1 km running interval and 8 different fitness exercises are clocked through. For the complete event you need on average 1.5 hours. There will be 30 to 40 participants at a time who will be let out on the track in intervals of 10 minutes. Only the time needed to complete the course counts.
These are the 8 fitness stations to be completed alternating with the running intervals:
Ski Erg: behind this is a ski ergometer on which a distance of 1000 meters must be covered.
Sled Push: here you have to push a sled with a given weight over a distance of 2 x 25 meters.
Sled Pull: is the same as the previous exercise, except that you have to pull the sled over this distance.
Burpee Broad Jump: is a combination of burpees and broad jump over a distance of 80 meters.
Sandbag Lunges: with a shouldered sandbag you have to do lunges for 100 meters.
Farmer`s Carry: two kettlebells must be carried for a distance of 200 meters.
Rowing: On a rowing ergometer you have to cover a distance of 1000 meters.
Wall Balls: Out of the squad you have to throw a medicine ball about 100 times over a certain height to the wall.
