FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup

Germany, on September 27, 2022

FIA ETCR is the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand, touring car series, and gives the world’s largest and most-recognisable brands the chance to fight for an official electric Manufacturers’ title.

Underpinning this new race series is a forward-thinking technical concept, set out by ETCR creators WSC Group, aimed at showing off the most extraordinary performance elements of the world’s fastest-accelerating touring cars and creating exciting on-track battles.

THE WORLD’S FIRST ALL-ELECTRIC TOURING CAR CHAMPIONSHIP

The FIA ETCR – eTouring Car World Cup is a touring car series for electric cars, founded in Vallelunga, Italy. In the inaugural 2021 season, the series was called Pure ETCR and included cars from three manufacturers competing at five different venues. From the 2022 season, the ETCR will become an official FIA series.

PURE ETCR will be 100% electric and combine the wheel-to-wheel action for which touring car racing has gained a worldwide following, with breathtaking acceleration and some of the best drivers in the world.

Electric-TCR (or Pure ETCR) is the world’s first all-electric, multi-brand touring car championship organized by the same people who run the WTCR – the FIA World Touring Car Cup, the world’s premier gasoline-powered touring car race.

Goodyear is the sole tire supplier for the series, supplying a customized version of the Eagle F1 SuperSport developed specifically for electric vehicles.

A PURE ETCR vehicle has a power output of 500 kW, which is put on the road by the rear wheels. This makes these cars not only the most powerful touring cars ever, but also the fastest accelerating. These highly modified and electrified versions of CUPRA, Hyundai and Alfa Romeo are 100% electric.

Environment:

The PURE ETCR also offers a number of other innovative features that make it one of the most environmentally friendly motorsport series around. The all-sea transport strategy is less polluting than air travel, and on race weekends all cars are charged with carbon-free electricity.

In fact, the cars are charged simultaneously in the center of the PURE ETCR paddock and under the eyes of the fans. Fast-charging, environmentally friendly hydrogen generators provide each race car with 10 to 90 percent battery power in less than an hour.
