The WTA Tournament Berlin was a clay court tennis tournament of the WTA Tour, which was held from 1979 to 2008 as the International German Championships in Berlin. The women’s tournament has been held in Berlin since 1979. At the beginning of the 1980s, two Germans, Bettina Bunge and Claudia Kohde-Kilsch, were among the winners. From 1986, another German, Steffi Graf, dominated the tournament. She won the tournament nine times in eleven years, making her the event’s record winner.
After a long break, emotion sports GmbH ushered in a new era of grass court tennis in Berlin in 2021. Since then, world stars such as Maria Sakkari, Ons Jabeur, Aryna Sabalenka and Coco Gauff have been competing for the title at the ecotrans Ladies Open.
On the fourth edition of the tournament in 2024, the world elite in women’s tennis will once again serve at the Steffi Graf Stadium on the grounds of LTTC “Rot-Weiß” e.V. Berlin!
