Course descriptions

The Half Marathon:

Starting from the Complexe Sportif de Beckerich, next to the Société des Eaux de Beckerich, famous for its high-purity water, you’ll discover a beautiful, undulating course through a majestic forest massif stretching from Luxembourg to Belgium, on the Grand Duchy side, through the Beckerich and Hobscheid/Eischen communal woods, and on the Belgian side, through the lands of Baron de Guirsch, part of the Commune d’Arlon, all the way to the Vallée des Trois Moulins, a well-known walking area for the people of Arlon. At the foot of the beech and oak trees, you’ll find lilies of the valley and the famous sweet woodruff, the flower used to make the famous MAITRANK, a regional aperitif made with Moselle wine. Two-thirds of the roads are forest, sandy or clay, depending on the location, and the other third are country roads, including a 2 km section of the Attert cycle path, which ends with one of the race’s surprises: the crossing of a 690 m long tunnel, an impressive work of art built in the 1870s to allow the passage of the vicinal streetcar line. The site has been restored for the sole pleasure of pedestrians and cyclists.

Positive altitude difference for the half-marathon:

+/- 340m

7 refreshment points during the race: * water at km 3.5 / 7 / 10.5 / 13 / 16 / 17.5 and at the finish.

The 5 km:

90% of the course is taken from the half-marathon. This circuit does not cross the Belgian border, but offers panoramic views over the village of Beckerich and the large cross-border Attert valley. With the exception of the last kilometer, the route is almost exclusively forestry. 1 refreshment point is provided.
