The Luxembourg Shooting Federation cordially invites you, to participate in the 40th edition of the international air weapon competition which will take place from the 13th till the 16th December 2023, in the “Hall Marcel Balthasar (Centre National de Tir à l’Arc) in Strassen, Luxembourg.

The story:
The “Fédération Luxembourgeoise de Tir aux armes sportives” was officially founded in 1953.
Before that, Luxembourg was probably more familiar with the “Schéiss”, a notorious association
with a recognized history. In the Middle Ages, there were already written records of
sport shooting activities in the city archives around 1155. Internationally, there is also talk
of activities in the 11th century in the history books. The international sporting era did not begin until the 20th century, however, with the founding of the UIT (Union International des Fédérations et Associations Nationales de Tir) was founded in Switzerland in 1907.
UIT activities were suspended during the two world wars. In 1998, the UIT was renamed
name ISSF (International Shooting Sport Federation). Today, the ISSF comprises 157
national federations and can look back on 100 years of Olympic participation.

The RIAC (Rencontre Internationale aux Armes à air Comprimé) was founded in Luxembourg in 1983
by Mil Manderscheid (General Treasurer, President of the Jury) and Mathis Marx (former
Secretary General) in order to gain more international recognition.
