The Tour of the Alps is a road cycling stage race that takes place annually in the European Alps. The race spans the regions of Austria and Italy and takes in some of the region’s most challenging mountain passes and scenic roads. It is an exceptional ambassador of the Euroregion and its territories Tirol, Sudtirol/Alto Adige and Trentino.

The Tour of the Alps was first held in 1962 as the Giro del Trentino and has undergone several changes in format and name over the years. Since 2017, the race has been called Tour of the Alps and is part of the UCI Europe Tour. The race usually takes place in April and lasts five days with a total distance of around 700 kilometers. It is also characterized by shorter stages, but there is no time trial. Also, the sprinters are not in focus.

The Tour of the Alps is considered an important preparatory race for the Giro d’Italia, which takes place a few weeks later. Many of the best professional teams and riders take part in the race, which has the reputation of being a tough and demanding race with many climbs and technical descents.
