ULTRA CYCLING: Ultraradmarathon

Ultra cycling, 24 hours time trial world championships in Borrego Springs in California – November 8, 2022

Ralph Diseviscourt had to abandon the 24-hour race on the 29-kilometer circuit after 7.5 hours due to a crash.
The Luxembourg record holder (records over 100 kilometers, 100 miles, 200 kilometers, 200 miles, 300 kilometers, 300 miles, 500 kilometers, 500 miles and over 6 hours) was in the race sometimes faster sometimes slower than the later Austrian winner Philipp Kaider.

After Diseviscourt’s fall, the way was supposedly clear for Kaider who already had a lead over the other chasers.

After Kaider steadily extended his lead and the title was within reach, a new goal had to be set: only four athletes in the history of the race have been able to break the sound barrier of 500 miles (about 805 km), and only one, Christoph Strasser, even further than 850 km. Even though Strasser’s course record of 913 km from 2018 was out of reach for Kaider, the goal was to be the second athlete ever to go further than 850 km.

After 24 hours on the bike, it was then certain: with 856 kilometers ridden, Philipp Kaider is now not only in the exclusive club of athletes who have been able to ride over 850 kilometers, but thus also the 2022 World Champion in the 24-hour time trial.

June 2022 – Diseviscourt wins the Race Across France for the second time

The athlete from Nocher (LUX) crossed the finish line first in the early hours of Friday morning in one of the toughest bike races in the world.
The Luxembourg extreme cyclist Ralph Diseviscourt has won the “Race Across France”. The 24-year-old from Wiltz completed the 2500-kilometer route in 5 days, 9 hours and 45 minutes. He crossed the finish line in Mandelieu near Cannes.
The former Luxembourg champion reached five checkpoints, conquering legendary passes such as the Ventoux, the Galibier, the Télégraphe or the Cormet de Roselend. In ultracycling, athletes cover very long distances. The most famous race is the “Race Across America”, which crosses the USA from east to west over 4800 kilometers every year.
